Bathroom Flooring Options
The following is some recommendations on possible flooring options for your bathroom. We make our recommendation based on basic consideration like its durability, kid friendly feature, its appearance, its feel under bare feet, and anti – moisture feature.
- The best and the greatest – Ceramic tile: it is cost effective, water proof and give user solid feeling. Ceramic tile comes in all shapes, colors and designs to make bathroom flooring looks good. You can have so many different types of ceramic tiles to choose from, shapes are varied including octagonal and hexagonal. Colors are plentiful especially with those mosaic tiles. The only downside of ceramic tile is it is cold for bare feet and it may get slippery. But people use small bathroom rugs to place on standing areas to create warm comfort or they can install heated tile to deal with the cold.
- Sheet or Tile Vinyl is considered adequate aesthetic with great practicality. Great practicality because there are thousands of style options and installing these tiles does not require professional service. You can do it yourself at your own time. But they tend to come up after a while of using. Because it is made of vinyl that’s why it is quite cheap because it simply looks and feels like plastic.
- Stone is always considered good bathroom flooring choice because it definitely looks good it resists moisture problems. Like ceramic tile stone is cold and can get slippery easily. However this can be fixed by using sandblasting or slate to texture the stone. Its good look dictates its price too so stone tile is the most expensive among tiles.
- Carpet flooring is the least popular and terrible choice because carpet will just too happy to absorb all moisture that your bathroom has and keep the entire room as moist as a steam room.
- Solid hardwood flooring is far from ideal except better than carpet. Solid hardwood flooring certainly looks great, classy and makes your feet feel warm. But the moisture is hardwood’s killer which means flooring will have gaps if improperly done. So if you must have solid hardwood flooring be sure to hire professional installers who can deal with this anti moisture issue before having hardwood flooring installed.
- Some favor laminate flooring because it is seems the most suitable for bathroom among others. What is laminate flooring? It is technically a simple for m of resin impregnated paper that put on top a wood chip base. The surface of laminate plank is cover with simulating materials such as marble, wood, stone, slate etc. On top of that surface is a clear layer of melamine called the “wear layer”. This wear layer is very strong and can last as long as 30 years. Seams are glued carefully and tightly to prevent moisture to get inside. Laminate tile is easy to clean and maintenance. But once moisture gets inside and create bubbles or make wood chip base expanded it may be time to tear it down and replace with a new one.
